What is research?

In a Public Health Local Authority setting, research means using systematic, robust qualitative and quantitative approaches to generate (new) knowledge that does not start out with assumptions about what the specific purpose, intervention, or output the knowledge will inform. Evaluation and Insight & Engagement Gathering are similar but distinct concepts.
